Competitive gameplay is a huge part of Fortnite. While the video game has a big casual audience, it’s also attractive for pros. Each year, Epic Games gives away millions of dollars through competitions, so developing ranked modes is a necessity. Due to this, it’s no surprise that the latest update brought a couple of big changes to competitive gameplay.
This time, Epic vaulted several items from ranked modes. On top of this, one item was removed from the Black Market. Let’s take a deeper look at all the changes!
The latest Fortnite update changed the loot pool of competitive modes
The newest Fortnite season brought a couple of new items. From a new sniper rifle, which is deadly at long range, to The Kneecapper, players have had a lot of fun testing the new loot. However, competitive modes have different rules, and the loot pool often varies and is more prone to changes. As a result, Epic frequently vaults some of the items that are generally available in non-ranked modes.
On Friday night, Fortnite vaulted Fletcher Kane’s Double Down Pistol, Mammoth Pistol, and Falcon Eye Sniper from competitive modes. Considering that all three of these weapons are amazing for medium-to-long-range combat, it will force many players to adapt their playstyle and change their loadouts.
One of the most reputable Fortnite leakers, iFireMonkey, reported that Epic also removed the Outlaw Shotgun from the Black Market in competitive modes. Finally, the game developer slightly nerfed The Kneecapper, reducing its knockback to vehicles by 9%.
The next Fortnite update is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 and will bring even more changes to the game. Besides competitive changes, we expect the update to affect other game modes as well, including LEGO Fortnite and Ballistic.
