Fortnite has received hundreds of updates over the past six years. Thanks to these updates, it’s become one of the most popular games in history. Unfortunately, Epic Games has released several changes that haven’t been accepted well by the community. One of these changes is the change to the user interface.
Epic released a massive overhaul of user interface at the beginning of Chapter 2 in October 2019. Since then, the game has received a few more bigger design changes, including one that was released a few weeks ago.
Unfortunately, many Fortnite players have complained about this change, which is why the game developer decided to do something about it.
Epic Games started improving Fortnite’s Discover function
Fortnite’s Creative mode has been very popular over the past few years. The mode was introduced in Chapter 1 – Season 7 and has received numerous changes lately. The most important change was the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), which was released in March 2023.
While Creative maps have a lot of potential, many map creators publish duplicate maps. Considering that Epic Games pays a lot of money for these maps, it makes sense. However, players are tired of seeing same unoriginal maps all over in Discover.
Fortunately, it seems that Epic has finally decided to do something about it. According to iFireMonkey, a popular Fortnite leaker, the game developer disabled the Discover function for 20% of players in the lobby. However, this part of the game hasn’t been disabled completely and can still be accessed by pressing the button in the top left corner of the screen.
In short, this means that some players will not be seeing YouTube-like clickbaity thumbnails in the lobby anymore. This is likely an experimental change that might be rolled out to a wider audience in the future.
According to a blog post by Epic Games, more changes will come in the future. The development team is constantly working on improving the game, and we might get more big changes in Fortnite Chapter 5.
