The 3DS from Nintendo will not only feature games that “can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses,” but it could also feature force feedback much like the controllers for home consoles.

The patent application blatantly states the “game apparatus includes a vibrating motor” so while the handheld’s visuals leap out from the screen the system itself could leap out of your hands, if the motor is powerful enough.

The bog standard DS has featured vibration before. When Metroid Prime Pinball was released it came packaged with a Rumble Pak that was placed in the GBA slot and it shook whenever the Samus ball hit something on screen. It wasn’t exactly popular though because of the noise it made and the fact that not that many games made use of it.

However, because the motors in the 3DS are housed inside the console it should cut down on the nose it makes and rumble away pleasantly in your hands, or on your lap, or wherever you happen to place it.

The 3DS will be properly revealed at E3 in June and should be on sale before the end of March 2011.
