Now that Football Manager 2023 (FM23) is out in Early Access we can finally sink our teeth into who are the best players in the game. The key to having a good midfield is making sure it is balanced. This is whether you’re using a three in midfield or a two. So we’re going to break down who the best midfielders are in FM23.

Some of the players on this list are more defensively minded then others, whilst others are a bit better going forward. The key to building your midfield is making sure you equip roles to the players that complement the weaknesses of the other players in the midfield.

There are plenty of midfielders in FM23 that are worth signings and a few of them are genuinely achievable if you’re managing some of the bigger sides. For example you could sign Rice and Milinkovic-Savic, which set up your midfield for years and their clubs would sell.

Who is the best midfielder in FM23?
There is only one answer here: Kevin De Bruyne. The Manchester City star is comfortably the best player you can get in the middle of the park in FM23.
He is a 5 star man, with plenty of stats above 15. Obviously, there are better players to play in DM, Joshua Kimmich for example, but for an all round man De Bruyne is your guy.
