UPDATE: In an update on Square Enix’s European blog, Seto clarified that the publisher couldn’t actually “confirm a specific date” for the demo’s release, suggesting that it may not actually be available day one after all.

“The release date of the Final Fantasy XV Demo has not been confirmed and we will announce more details closer to the release of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD,” he said. “We will try our best to make sure you don’t have to wait long but at the moment we can’t confirm a specific date.”

ORIGINAL STORY: The playable demo of Final Fantasy XV will be available at the launch of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on March 20, 2015, Square Enix has confirmed.

Confirmation comes by way of a new PlayStation Blog post by Square Enix community manager Dan Seto who hoped that fans were “excited about Final Fantasy XV – Episode Duscae and we can’t wait for you to let us know what you think about it when it is released on 20th March 2015”.

All PS4 and Xbox One copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD will ship with a voucher code to download the Episode Duscae demo, which lets players “explore a certain part of the world and experience the new battle system” in an area set near the beginning of the game.

It was announced earlier today that Final Fantasy XV’s director Tetsuya Nomura had left the project to dedicate his time to Kingdom Hearts 3, with Crisis Core director Hajime Tabata taking up the helm.
