Final Fantasy XIV and Monster Hunter World's crossover event will advance to the next stage on August 7, when the rampaging Rathalos from Capcom's beast-slaying series will rock up in Squeenix's online behemoth.

Rathalos will invade Final Fantasy XIV as soon as the game's next update, 4.36, is made available for download. Once this happens, players will have a chance to go toe-to-claw with the scaly critter.

It's all part of The Great Hunt event, which will arrive in both standard and Extreme flavours. The former allows for up to eight players, while the latter holds a party of four. Outside of this, players can also get their hands on Rathalos-inspired armour, Palico and Poogie minions, and BBQ Spit furnishing.

Square Enix noted that you'll need to hit Level 70 before taking on the challenge however, as well as polishing off Stormblood's main campaign. If that wasn't enough, remember that Final Fantasy XIV's Behemoth will be stomping into Monster Hunter World on August 1.
