Career Mode is one of EA’s classic modes, and one of the biggest questions asked is how to find regens in FIFA 23. This is where EA repopulates the game with replacements for exisiting retired/retiring superstars.

These replacements, or regens, often have incredible ratings and great potential, so they are worth looking out for! With some of football’s most popular Icons like Frank Ribery, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo approaching retirement, the football community can already feel anticipatory grief. However, for Career Mode players, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

What are Regens?

In FIFA career mode, there is access to a wide range of players, but some of these players retire every year. So FIFA compensates by replacing the retiring players with computer regenerated ones or “regens” for short.

Regens are similar to retired players in terms of the positions they play, their nationality, and birthdays. However, they have different appearances, skill levels, weak foot abilities, or skill moves.

FIFA 23 How to Find Regens

Finding regens is easy, and you can find them easily by following the steps below:

  • Create a short list of retiring players that you are interested in before the season ends.
  • Once a new season commences, in the transfer tab, search for players with the age parameter set between 16 and 21 in the league the player retired in
  • Set the Nationality and position as well.
  • You will notice a computer-generated player in that position that has comparable potential to the icon that retired.
  • However, sometimes regens will not appear in the league in which their sires played. In such instances, the best bet is to search for them as free agents.
  • To cross check that you have got the real deal. Head over to settings and select the edit player. You should find that the regen shares their birth date with their sire.

If players cannot be found in the league they retired in, check the Free Agents list and they should be in there.

FIFA 23 Scouting Regens

Another way you can find in regens in FIFA 23 is to bring them through your own youth academy. Every player you scout in your youth academy is not quite a regen but they’re certainly not real players, sometimes though they come through in a different position to their natural one or with quite unbalanced stats. So it is up to you to try and fix that.

It offers a different but satisfying challenge to a Career Mode, but can certainly help add longevity.
