The first screenshots of FIFA 13 on Wii U have surfaced online, detailing the bespoke control system and enhanced functionality offered by the Wii U GamePad.

Judging by the screenshots, players can use the GamePad to access “Manager Central”, an area where they can quickly change tactics, keep an eye on match statistics, offer half-time team talks to boost morale, and make substitutions via a series of menus on the GamePad’s touchscreen.

The shots also offer the first glimpse at the game’s ‘Touchscreen Shooting’, which lets players pinpoint a target while taking a free kick using the GamePad’s touchscreen, offering improved accuracy during set plays.

The game appears to look similar to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions.

FIFA 13 was announced for Wii U yesterday.

The game’s producer Matt Prior said that the Wii U version is “on a par with 360 and PS3 and we were even able to make some key graphical improvements. We focused on areas that would have the most impact on the game.”

A release date for the Wii U version has yet to be announced. The game launches on all other platforms on September 28.
