FIFA Points are a form of currency introduced to FIFA 13: Ultimate Team designed to make purchasing Ultimate Team packs quicker and easier than ever before.
Rather than forcing players through multiple Xbox LIVE Marketplace or PlayStation Store menus whenever they want to purchase new Ultimate Team packs, FIFA Points are now used to purchase packs, simplifying the purchasing process.
After buying FIFA Points on your Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, FIFA Points can also be used to purchase packs on the Ultimate Team Web App.
Players can buy FIFA Points directly through FIFA 13. Here’s a list of prices based on the Xbox 360 version of the game:
- FIFA Points 100 – 64 MSP (£0.55)
- FIFA Points 250 – 160 MSP (£1.37)
- FIFA Points 500 – 320 MSP (£2.74)
- FIFA Points 750 – 480 MSP (£4.11)
- FIFA Points 1050 (50 bonus points) – 640 MSP (£5.48)
- FIFA Points 1575 (75 bonus points) – 960 MSP (£8.22)
- FIFA Points 2200 (200 bonus points) – 1280 MSP (£10.97)
- FIFA Points 4600 (600 bonus points) – 2560 MSP (£21.93)
A Gold Ultimate Team pack is expected to cost 100 FIFA Points, but at the time of writing, EA hadn’t stated how many FIFA Points other varieties of Ultimate Team pack would cost.
There are other benefits to FIFA Points over the previous Microsoft Points/PSN system, too. Purchasing larger FIFA Points bundles offers additional discounts and bonus points. EA says that players buying a 2,000 FIFA Point bundle will net 200 bonus FIFA Points on top for free; enough to buy two extra gold packs.
And finally, EA Sports Season Ticket members will also receive an additional 20% discount off the price of FIFA Points.
FIFA 13 launches tomorrow, September 28, on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii, 3DS, PSP and PlayStation Vita.
