FIFA 13 has sold over 4.5 million units in five days, according to publisher Electronic Arts. This has made it the biggest video game launch of 2012 and the biggest sports game launch of all time. FIFA 13 was the No.1 game in at least 40 countries.

FIFA 13’s massive sales were led by 1.23 million units sold in the UK in the first 48 hours, making it only the second video game franchise (the other being Call of Duty) to sell over one million copies in one day.

EA also revealed that September 30 was the busiest day for online gaming for a single title in EA history. 800,000 people played FIFA 13 simultaneously, and since then 66 million online game sessions have been played.

“FIFA 13 is a critical and commercial success unprecedented in sports entertainment,” said Andrew Wilson, executive vice president of EA Sports. “Every minute of every day millions of fans around the world are experiencing what the critics have already said-FIFA 13 is the biggest and best sports game we have ever created.”
