FIFA 12 hits stores today, but fans of the franchise needn’t be worried that next year’s inclusion of PlayStation Move functionality in FIFA 13 will take away from the game they love so much.

FIFA executive producer David Rutter says motion control will be introduced in a positive way.

“It’s about trying to make it part of the game in a good way, rather than have it as a clichéd marketing gimmick,” Rutter told UK OPM.

This was a message backed up by EA Sports senior VP Andrew Wilson: “The core focus for us is still on 11-versus-11, twitch-based gameplay. That’s where we’re investing heavily.”

FIFA 12 is out now for all leading formats, and if you shop around you can get a pretty good deal. If you’re torn over this year’s rival football titles then check out our FIFA 12 review and then head over to our PES 2012 review.

We’re seen motion controls fail too many times to believe that just because we’re told they won’t be gimmicky they actually won’t be. We’ll have to wait until the media blitz for FIFA 13 kicks in before we get an answer.
