One of the much touted features of Ubisoft’s upcoming open world blast-a-thon Far Cry 5 is the ability to explore the game’s virtual depiction of Montana in online co-op with a friend, and today the developer has revealed more details on how the mode will work.
According to Ubisoft, players will be able to jump into blasting through Hope County with a friend immediately following the tutorial, with all experience and inventory items sans quest critical objects being kept after each session, though only the hosting player will retain their story progress. Furthermore, players will see and collect their own loot in the open world, so there’ll presumably be no fighting over who gets to nab the last bear claw.
In addition, the ‘Friends for Hire’ system as it’s dubbed (or ‘Fangs for Hire’ if you decide on an animal companion) will allow you to take two buddies on a mission: one of them controlled by the AI and the other by your online friend.
Far Cry 5 releases February 27 2018 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
