Those who bought a PlayStation 2 on its launch may remember firework based puzzler Fantavision. Well, now it’s set to receive a sequel on PSVR 2 some twenty three years later.

Fantavision 202x is its name, and it’ll be a launch title for the new virtual reality headset for PlayStation 5 – with the first details posted to the PlayStation Blog.

As before, the aim of the game is to try and ‘catch’ three fireworks of the same colour in order to shoot them into the sky and score points.

However, there’s also loads of modifiers – for example you can also catch fireworks of different colours and use a Daisy Chain to link them together and score even more points. You can also collect items and start a bonus mode known as Starmine.

Naturally, with PSVR 2 you’ll have an all new way to play, using the headset and triggers on the PSVR 2 controllers.

Of course, being brought right up to date, this new version will use the Unreal Engine – meaning the fireworks and explosions should look better than ever even before factoring in the VR element.

There’ll be a single player story mode, as well as a Replay Mode. Here, you’ll be able to watch back your performance without the pressure of the game stuff, and move the camera and even slow down time to get the best view of the show.

Fantavision 202X will be a launch title for the PSVR 2, and as such will be available from February 22, 2023.
