Long-running YouTube series The Storyteller: Fallout has lost one of its major voice actors in a battle with cancer. Jason Damron, the voice actor behind the titular Storyteller, is said to have passed away after a year-long fight with the disease.

Fallout Storyteller closes the book

Fallout: The Storyteller is a machinima series similar to shows like Red vs Blue and The Strangerhood. With four seasons under its belt and tens of millions of views, the decade-long series has been a hit ever since the release of Fallout 4.

In a post on Twitter, Jason Damron’s daughter, Emily Damron, revealed to fans that her father had tragically passed.

“I just wanted to share that on Saturday, September 7th my father passed away after a horrible year of health,” she announced. “He was diagnosed with stage four adrenal cancer that spread to the liver.”

“Rest in Peace, Jason Damron, AKA, The Storyteller”

Tributes rush in

Following the announcement of Damron’s passing, fans immediately rushed in with touching tributes for the machinima creator. With The Storyteller series being many fans’ introduction to the lore of Bethesda’s RPG series, thousands have thanked the creator for making years of entertainment.

“I’m sorry for your loss, your father was a legend to all of us.” one fan said. “With his voice he has told many stories that have inspired others to tell their own stories. Rest In Peace Jason Damron, AKA The Storyteller.”

“Countless nights I spent watching your father narrate the stories I hold so dear to my heart,” said another. “He had a voice made of 14k gold and a personality that jumped out the monitor. He will be desperately missed.”

The Storyteller may be gone, but their decade of love and adoration of the RPG series will never be forgotten. Many fans inspired by the prolific YouTuber are still creating content today, and his inspiration can be felt across the entirety of the series’ fandom.
