The new free-to-play beta for MMO City of Heroes, City of Heroes: Freedom, launches today.

Users who are interested in trying their hand at the free beta can find out how to install the beta client at the official City of Heroes forums.

The game offers players a new character creator, as well as a new beginners tutorial and updated Atlas Park and Mercy Island locations.

The release of Freedom coincides with new content in the form of Issue 21: Convergence, which includes First Ward – a new co-op area gripped in conflict – as well as a new Power Set, the eagerly-anticipated Underground Incarnate Trial and two full costume sets.
