The Formula One 2023 season is back after it’s mid-season break, and that means the F1 23 September Update is here. The Dutch Grand Prix is up next on the calendar, and how better to get in the spirit of things than to challenge the Flying Dutchman himself, Max Verstappen.

Unsurprisingly, Max Verstappen sits at the top of the F1 23 driver ratings. The Red Bull driver has been dominant throughout 2023 and will head to Zandvoort confident of yet another win. EA Sports has now given you the chance to stop his dominance, but can you beat him on the track?

Take a look at the details of the F1 23 September Update below.

What are F1 23 Pro Challenges?

As part of the F1 23 September Update, EA Sports is introducing new real-world challenges to the game for the first time. The first two challenges will see EA ambassadors Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc set ghost lap time trials for you to beat.

You can challenge Verstappen from August 29 to September 4. The bar has been set high by Max, but anyone who beats his 1:10.621 lap time will earn his special F1 Dutch Grand Prix 2023 helmet in the game to recognise the feat. You can see Verstappen set his lap time at Zandvoort in the video below.

The following week, players will be able to challenge Ferrari superstar Charles Leclerc at Monza. ANyone who beats Leclerc will receive a special Scuderia Ferrari item for the F1 Pirelli Gran Premio D’Italia 2023 in the game.

“We are beyond thrilled with the launch of the new ‘Pro Challenge’ feature in ‘F1 World,” states Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “Giving players the opportunity to directly engage and compete against their favourite drivers in game is something we always wanted to deliver. F1 World will continue to evolve, creating more moments for players to test their virtual racing skills against their real-world heroes.”

The new Pro Challenges are not the only new additions to F1 23. From August 29, fans will be able to use Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo after his return to the grid. After a brief hiatus, Ricciardo has returned with AlphaTauri, replacing Nyck De Vries.

Singapore’s Marina Bay Circuit has also received an update. Several corners have seen their layout altered slightly, so the latest update will reflect that in the game. A third update to the F1 23 driver ratings will also go live on September 19.

More F1 World challenges will be available throughout September too. These will include five ‘F1 Replay’ events, and new studio-curated Scenario Events. Featuring Valtteri Bottas, Logan Sargeant and Lando Norris, these will test even the most seasoned veteran.

According to EA, F1 World will continue to deliver regular gameplay updates, earning players exclusive team and seasonal rewards, including special edition items like the recently added the Alfa Romeo F1 Team x BOOGIE Art Livery.
