EA Sports F1 23 is supporting BBC Children in Need’s Sim Rig Tour. The six state of the art racing rigs were unveiled at the recent British Grand Prix at Silverstone, where Max Verstappen romped home again to extend his and Red Bull’s lead at the top of the standings.

Verstappen is also top of the F1 23 ratings, but you can now challenge the flying Dutchman yourself. Located in the heycar stand at Goodwood’s Festival of Speed from July 13 to July 16 are the racing rigs in which you can set your fastest lap time around Silverstone.

The racing rigs are dedicated to the charity’s fundraising challenge, where participants aged 16 or over are invited to set their fastest lap time on the virtual Silverstone circuit. The fastest 50 entrants will then enter a ballot and could win the chance to race on a live show during BBC Children in Need’s 2023 Appeal.

“We are delighted to be working with Formula 1, heycar and EA SPORTS as we take our Sim Rig tour to the Festival of Speed,” claimed Tommy Nagra, Director of Content at BBC Children in Need. “We can’t wait to see attendees get in the driving seat and compete for the fastest lap time – it’s sure to be a lot of fun!”

You will need the right car setup to set a quick lap time, so make sure to check out the best F1 23 Silverstone setup. The track is fast-paced with high speed turns, but you can’t go all out speed as a couple of tight turns may be too much for you.

Verstappen set the fastest lap time at Silverstone with a blistering 1:27.097. Anything around the 1:30.000 mark is impressive for the novice driver. At VideoGamer we were lucky enough to be invited down to set our own lap times, and my fastest lap was 1:31.436 for those who want to challenge us. After a spin and 1:44:457 first lap, I wasn’t so disappointed with the second.
