EA and Codemasters have announced they’re welcoming the Portimao circuit in EA Sports F1 22 today.

The circuit, also known as Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, will be a free update for all players. Players can also peek a hot lap around the circuit in Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes W13 in a new video, posted below. The circuit returned to the F1 calendar in the 2020 and 2021 seasons after a short break. Hamilton himself won both of those years. The circuit’s probably most famous for its sharp descent before its final right turn.

Lee Mather, F1 Senior Creative Director at Codemasters provides a quote. “We known our players love the thrill of competing on more circuits, and they don’t get much better than Portimao,” he said. “Portimao is highly revered with a proud history, and our players will love the challenge of taking the 2022-designed cars onto the hallowed circuit for the first time.”

The updates for this year’s game aren’t stopping there either. The game’s next update will see the addition of the Shanghai International Circuit on September 12. Before then, you can grab the new Portmao circuit now in EA Sports F1 2022 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
