Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture “is starting to turn that last corner” in development, The Chinese Room has teased, suggesting that fans won’t have to wait too much longer to play the upcoming PS4 adventure.

In a series of tweets posted earlier today, the developer hinted that work on the game was finally nearing the finishing line, quipping that it had “officially reached the point in development where art director @3DBenj says things like ‘you can’t have both. Which one would you like?'”

“And @andrewcrawshaw is all like ‘well, anything is technically possible, but everything isn’t all at once’. And if you mention anything to do with framerate then @stuartyarham just goes really quiet, and @unusualcadence has been missing for days.

“But that’s a good thing, because all of that means the #GoneToTheRapture is starting to turn that last corner for all you lovely people.”

Back in December, The Chinese Room revealed that it was “well past the half-way point” in development, but warned that it still had “a lot to do”.

“The first part of making a game is hugely exciting, but you need to settle into a long process of driving the quality up, kicking bugs into touch and tweaking the minutiae – it’s what really makes a big difference to the overall game,” the developer said. “As we move into a process of regular QA builds, working through the bug database, pushing hard on lighting and colour grading, making sure we are balancing the process of adding depth and complexity to the art… this is the hard stuff, the real craft of making a good game.

Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture launches exclusively on PS4 later this year.
