Epic and Gametrailers have lifted the lid on the Unreal Engine 4, and in turn revealed what the next generation of games might look like.
The Unreal Engine 4 real-time tech demo debuted exclusively on Gametrailers TV (you can see the videos embedded below), and gives us the first look at Epic’s vision for next generation console and PC games.
At E3 2012 LucasArts’ Star Wars 1313 was widely thought to look like a next-generation title (currently said to be running on a high-end PC), but this has been confirmed as an Unreal Engine 3 title. No games have been shown publicly running on Epic’s new engine – an engine it no doubt hopes will be as popular as its UE3.
Epic Games is responsible for developing hit games Gears of War and Unreal Tournament, while its engines have powered the likes of Mass Effect, BioShock, and Batman Arkham City.
