Epic Games has revealed they will be reverting the overtly criticized Fortnite cosmetic update next month. The game’s developer stated that “cosmetic gating will be disabled” until a long-term solution is in place. However, this won’t immediately be enacted and will instead take place after a few weeks, on December 3, 2023, as part of the v28.00 update.

Following a massive wave of backlash after the release of the Fortnite update 27.10, the game’s developer immediately shared their plans to introduce new options through a candid X post. They also teased that these new features would be brought into the game as part of an upcoming “big in-game event.” Though Epic Games has yet to specify what the event is, it will most likely be the annual Winterfest celebration or the upcoming The Big Bang affair that was recently announced.

In addition to revealing when the next Fortnite cosmetic update will be, Epic Games also admitted that “we were conservative in how we reviewed cosmetics and their potential impact on an island’s rating. We are evaluating all cosmetics again now.” “A small number of existing cosmetics and less than ten outfits will remain playable only in T-rated (or regionally equivalent rated) islands because of their obvious fear or violence elements.),” they continued. However, it’s currently unclear what these remaining skins are.

Unfortunately, for now, you’ll have to wait until the specified date to access all of the restricted skins you have in your locker. So, while you wait, take a look at our comprehensive guides on how to get the Eminem skin in Fortnite, how to get the Lewis Hamilton skin in Fortnite, and how to unlock the Runway Racer skin for free in Fortnite so you can boast an even bigger collection of cosmetics ahead of the next update.
