The Wii’s appeal to gamers of all ages and skill levels has made EA take a look at the control mechanics of its long-running sports franchises. The result is the creation of EA Sports Family Play, a new way for novice and casual gamers to play, enabling players of all skill levels to compete on a level playing field.

Family Play takes away the complexity of EA Sports titles, enabling the gamer to control the action with just the Wii-mote. Players will perform key actions, such as shooting, passing, snapping and throwing, while the console takes control of the rest. EA says it’s like having an invisible helper on your team.

Advanced players can stick to the more complex gameplay they have become used to, taking control of all aspects of the game. As novice players begin to gain more confidence in their play, they can plug in a Nunchuck and gradually begin to use more advanced controls.

EA Sports Family Play will debut in the Wii versions of Madden NFL 08, NBA LIVE 08 and FIFA 08.
