EA is hiring developers to its new Seattle-based studio, to work on a single-player campaign, either for Battlefield 2042 or a future game.

The job listing (via VGC) calls for people to help build “rich, exciting stories with memorable characters and powerful experiences all in the Battlefield universe.” The company is after a design director, so the project is likely in its early phase. The director would “orchestrate the mission design, narrative, game mechanics, and systems to create the highest quality experience possible.”

This is good news. A popular complaint levied at Battlefield is its lack of a campaign. The most recent entry in the series, Battlefield 2042, didn’t feature one. It also didn’t do very well for EA, either.

EA established this new studio last year. And Marcus Lehto, co-creator of the Halo series, is leading the team. So there is some serious talent at the top. (Halo campaigns, a long time ago, were the stuff of legend.) Before joining EA, Lehto worked on Disintegration, which was an intriguing game indeed. In VideoGamer’s review, Imogen Donovan said:

“To sum up, Disintegration is like ridge-cut ready salted crisps. You take a bite, and you think, This is just excellent. This is everything a potato should be. But what would be even greater is some dip. Something to add to this snack, to elevate it to ambrosial heights. This ridge-cut ready salted crisp has hit the spot, no doubt, but you know it could really zing.”
