Koei Tecmo Europe has finally given musou adventure Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires a new launch date of February 15, 2022.
The game was originally set to launch in ‘Early 2021’ but was delayed back in March of this year. This will be a more stategy-focused version of 2018’s Dynasty Warriors 9, and will see players attempting to conquer ancient China.
New features include a ‘Storming the Castle’ mechanic, where players will take part in skirmishes to take hold of forts. They’ll be able to utilise siege weapons to invade the base and give orders to other units. Once a player breaks through the gate, they’ll enter into a ‘Decisive Battle’ where the enemy officers re-join the battlefield for one last gasp defence.
Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will also feature “Secret Plans” set in the battle preparation phase. These can then be activated as missions with their own objectives that can be failed or met. Successful completion will infer buffs on your units, and you can prevent opponents from enacting their own secret plans too.
You’ll also have to deal with Army Affinity, where each officer unit has a military type assigned to them. Each of the three will have their strengths and weaknesses, in a rock-paper-scissors style. Calvary beats Archer, Archer beats Infantry and Infantry beats Calvary. Each unit will also have special effects against specific enemy types.
