Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics will use the D&D 3.5 rule-set, and will allow players to take a party of six adventurers into a variety of dangerous environments using a deep turn-based gameplay model. The game is in development at Kuju Entertainment and will feature an original Dungeons & Dragons storyline, in which players take on the role of a mortal child caught in a conflict between two competing dragons striving for godhood.

Alignment will play a major role in the game, as it affects the end of the story and will allow players to change from good to evil, depending on which quests are chosen. All the Dungeons & Dragons base characters, including the Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer and Wizard are available, plus five Prestige Classes and two Psionic classes: the Psion and the Psychic Warrior. Full character customisation will be available and players will be able to create as many as they can fit onto their Memory Stick.

Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics is a superior example of how to use the PSP’s full power for a really great handheld gaming experience,” said Cyril Voiron, Marketing Director, Atari Europe. “Not only is it an outstanding single player RPG based upon the astonishing D+D universe, but it also offers gameplay extension through downloadable content, wireless cooperative game modes and customizable characters, which in turn shows Atari’s commitment to providing players an experience beyond just the single player game.

The game will also include several multiplayer modes, taking advantage of the PSP’s wireless capabilities. Co-operative play will allow a group of gamers to play through the single-player campaign in a group, and Deathmatch mode features special arenas that allow players to fight one another. Downloadable content will also be made available, extending the game’s play time with new dungeon maps.

Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics is scheduled for release in November and will be playable at E3.
