Nintendo is dominating sales at the moment so it’s no surprise to see its hardware breaking sales records, even in relatively quiet months.

According to the NPD group the Nintendo DS sold 518,300 units in August 2008, which is the first time a console has sold in excess of half a million units in the month of August since NPD began tracking sales data. It broke the record by some margin too, with the previous record being held by the PS2’s 454,300 units sold in August 2002.
