It seems that one minute Dreamcast.com wasn’t owned by SEGA, then it apparently was, and now it almost certainly isn’t. The site caught the attention of loyal SEGA gamers by asking: “Do you still own a Dreamcast?” While many were quick to answer the question and supply the site with a serial number and email address, SEGA has nothing to do with the site.

According to Japanese news website Mainichi (via joystiq), SEGA has confirmed that Dreamcast.com is no longer owned by SEGA and that the Dreamcast and SEGA logos on the website are being used illegally. The domain registration information is also said to be fake. SEGA has asked gamers to refrain from submitting any personal information to the website as it considers “appropriate measures” to take against the website owners.
