Doom 4 will be “done when it’s done”, according to id co-founder John Carmack speaking at Quakecon last night.

Carmack stated that the development studio had moved its mobile development efforts over to Doom 4, with the industry legend saying that “Essentially everybody will be focused on Doom 4”.

“I hope that we do get back to mobile in various ways in the future, but the real aim is blockbuster triple-A titles, and for id that means Doom 4,” he added.

While news on Doom 4 was incredibly slim, id did talk about Doom 3 BFG Edition, showing off a new trailer that focused on the Lost Missions included in the enhanced re-release of the game.

Doom 3 BFG Edition is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on October 19.
