Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked, Capybara’s take on Klei’s hit survival game, will launch for PS4 this spring, Capybara Games has announced.

“Looking for a fresh take on their beloved survival game, Klei asked Capy if we’d be interested in creating a new expansion,” explained Dan Vader, lead writer and designer, Capybara Games. “They gave us no guidelines or rules for what we could do with a Don’t Starve game – just a blank canvas in the form of their amazing video game with a wickedly-committed community of diehard fans.”

In Capy’s game you’ll find Don’t Starve’s characters and mechanics transported to a desert island featuring brand new biomes, creatures, bosses, weapons, and ways to avoid starvation. There’s also boats and crabbits.

The ability to craft boats is a major new feature, required if you’re going to explore the new islands to their fullest.

News of the PS4 release comes just as Klei’s new multiplayer-focussed Don’t Starve Together gets ready to exit Steam Early Access.
