The Lego Super Mario range of toys is getting a few new members soon in the form of the iconic Donkey Kong characters. Aside from the Nintendo franchise’s recognizable titular protagonist, other figures that are set to join the fray include Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Cranky Kong, and Funky Kong so if you’re a fan of this classic video game series, then this is a release you won’t want to miss.

After teasing the sets through a Twitter post from the official Lego account earlier this week, the Lego Group has now confirmed the full details of the Donkey Kong themed sets, and that they will be available from August 1, 2023.

As per the press release, the sets will comprise of Donkey Kong’s Tree House Expansion Set, Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride Expansion Set, Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam Expansion set and Rambi the Rhino Expansion Set. These four sets will include Donkey Kong, Cranky Kong, Diddy Kong, Funky Kong and Dixie Kong in Lego brick form – and will also interact with the existing Lego Super Mario sets.

This would also give you the chance to recreate some of the most memorable scenes in the recent Super Mario Bros. movie. If you’re an old school gamer, then this will allow you to bring a few classic video game moments to life instead featuring Donkey Kong throwing an endless barrage of barrels at everyone’s favorite plumber.

It’s currently unclear whether more members of the iconic Kong Family are going to be introduced in the future since there are still a few notable names that are missing from the list, like Lanky and Swanky Kong. But with most of the gang already set to join the group, it may only be a matter of time until the rest of them are revealed.
