Disney Online has revealed plans for a dual subscription model for its upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean MMO. The game is set to launch this spring and cash-stricken gamers will be able to play for free if they’re willing to put up with an ad-supported mode.

A basic access plan will give users totally free access to many of the game’s features, so long as they can put up with some form of contextual advertising. It appears that the basic access plan will force the game to run in a window, with ads bordering the screen.

To gain complete access to the game with no ads in sight, players will have to agree to a reasonable $9.95 monthly subscription. It’s not currently clear exactly how the two subscription models will alter the game and what content is made available to each set players.
