Update: Digimon Survive, the turn-based tactics visual novel mash-up, is out today, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

If you purchase the game before August 30th, you will get some goodies: HP support equipment, Guilmon D.L.C., and bonus items. Check out the game’s launch trailer below:

Original Story:

Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Digimon Survive, showing off the game’s battling and exploration. The game is a visual novel crossed with an R.P.G. And it’s launching later this month, on July 29th.

The game features a branching-narrative system, to go along with its visual novel stylings. But your decisions will also affect the way that certain Digimon evolve, which is a neat touch. (Imagine if being an absolute bastard to your Bulbasaur altered its evolutionary path!)

Naturally, the game features battling. But it also lets you recruit enemy Digimon to your team by negotiating with them. I have to applaud Bandai Namco’s efforts here; it’s got a psychological dimension that Pokémon doesn’t seem to have considered.

Digimon Survive has been the subject of several delays. Bandai Namco announced it in 2018, and then the company struggled, as many did, with the global pandemic. It then insisted that the game would be out in 2020. Then there were reports that it may slip into 2021. And here we are, in 2022, with a firm release date. Digimon fans rejoice.
