The buzz surrounding Diablo 4 is at an all-time high, with the massive Vessel of Hatred expansion just around the corner. As fans wait for the expansion, patch notes for the RPG’s next big update have revealed that those the game’s annoying pop-ups can finally be turned off.
Fixing minor quibbles like this benefits everyone, but especially the game’s hardcore players. Considering how much these gamers have spent on the ARPG’s microtransactions, this is the least Activision Blizzard can do. It also acts as a palette cleanser after news of the company scrapping a Diablo Netflix series came to light.
Diablo 4 update squashes annoying pop-ups
Blizzard’s Diablo 4 patch notes reveal that new settings are available in the game options menu, which let you mute voiced warnings and messages like “you need more mana.” Players can imagine how annoying it must be to see “I can’t do that right now” or “I’ve run out of mana” endlessly across hundreds of hours of gameplay, so this is a great change.
Naturally, users in the game’s subreddit were overjoyed to hear the news, since many will be taking advantage of this option. While some fans did point out that a previous patch did allow options to mute the voices, messages would still pop up in the corner. At the least, this option completely removes these pop-ups, which is a must for longtime players.
It’s not the first time we’ve seen Blizzard remove some of the game’s annoying features to appease fans. Back in September, Blizzard announced the removal of Stygian Stones so players can summon bosses from their altars more easily. However, not every change has been good, with the new endgame content proving too difficult for solo players.
When are we getting offline play?
Fans hope to see more positive changes in Diablo 4, but they will probably have to wait after Vessel of Hatred releases before anything significant changes. We doubt that offline play – a feature many gamers still want – will be added in the middle of this expansion’s release, but this QOL feature gives us hope.
This is a fairly common cycle for Diablo fans since entries like Diablo 3 took a while before reaching their true potential. Although the launch of Diablo 4 has been much more positive, with fans even stomaching the online-only single-player content, we do hope these issues eventually get patched up.
