The next patch for Diablo 4 Season 5 is going to be so big that it requires before and afters for each change. Yet, perhaps even more devastating; “nearly every single” Mythic Unique is going to see change, rewiring the very circuitry that composes Diablo 4.

This news comes courtesy of Adam Fletcher, the Global Community Development Director for Diablo at Blizzard.

“The team is working on a before/after side by side for all Uniques and Mythic Uniques for the Season 5 patch notes as there are changes to nearly every single one.”

It’s not often that you see such as devastatingly important update flash a game. You might get a new DLC – most of the time paid for – that introduces entirely new paradigms or the like, but merely seeing this in a seasonal update is wildly impressive.

Fletcher also reveals that there are some improvements to Uber drop-rates, which was said directly in response to someone noting how infrequent they are. The latest update to Diablo 4 is going to be massive, and there’s no denying that the game is going to be an entirely different beast once this latest season comes into play.

This season is going to be called the Season of the Infernal Hordes – which sounds pretty cool. This is gonig to herald a new co-op activity introduced as of the new season, though there’s not going to be much of a major seasonal quest to complete, only a minor one.

The Infernal Horde is going to be one of the most important new elements introduced, and we already know a little bit about how to conquer it. Collecting Burning Aether throughout your run will allow you to collect rewards, and upon completing the final wave “rage against the Fell Council,” who you might remember from Diablo 2.

You will fight against Aether Fiends, or their Aether Lords, in your conquest against the Infernal Hordes. On top of the changes to nearly all Uniques and Mythic Uniques, the inclusion of 50 new Uniques and Legendary Items is the other big headline. Blizzard may have missed the mark with a few of the other seasonal upgrades, but it looks like the Season of the Infernal Hordes is going to be one of the most impressive expansions we’ve seen yet.
