The roaring success of Diablo 4 so far has undoubtedly pushed the latest series installment past its predecessors already. However, this hasn’t stopped hardcore series fans from reminiscing about the good old days as several players are now begging the developers to bring back the gold and item collecting pets that were present in Diablo 3.
Most of the useful companions you could get back in the third entry such as The Mimic and Haunting Hannah were often overlooked as the resources they gathered for you weren’t as important as they are now. But since having an obscene amount of gold and a healthy amount of Diablo 4 gems is essentially a requirement in order to survive the current installment’s endgame grind, these cosmetic pets would surely make venturing through Sanctuary much easier since you won’t have to double back each time you miss a pile of gold lying on the ground.
The community’s desire for a helpful gold and item collecting companion is further evidenced by a handful of posts created on the Diablo 4 subreddit. One post created by a user named rammchic3345 simply said: “I miss having a minion to pick up my gold. I feel like there is a lot of back tracking in the game, in general, but to back track to pick up gold is annoying af.”
Broshida then responded to the post by claiming that “coming from the last season of Diablo 3 to this was painful.” “My blessed minion was upgraded, grabbing poor quality loot and auto-dismantling [them] for parts. Speeding off after any and all gold. Even picking up all the gems? My guy was the MVP,” they continued. A cynical reaction by fkoffreddit, however, predicts that these little critters will be coming to the game soon, but that they’ll only be purchasable through “$25 worth of currency in the shop.”
A completely different, but equally popular post created by Nopezero111 shared the same sentiment as they simply hoped that the player base gets “money picking up pets like in D3.” With Diablo 4 Season 1 only having begun and the second season still a ways off, however, it may not be a while until we see these useful pets introduced into the game. So while you wait for these helpful critters to make their way back into the hellish Sanctuary landscape, check out our guides on Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts, Diablo 4 Nightmare Dungeons, and Diablo 4 World Bosses in the meantime.
