The Xbox One version of Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition could receive a resolution bump – possibly boosting it to 1080p – following last month’s SDK update, Blizzard has said.

Speaking to AusGamers about the possibility of increasing the resolution to match the PS4 version following Microsoft’s decision to free up GPU resources reserved by Kinect, senior producer Julia Humphreys said: “It’s possible. We’d just need to look at what that would require, and we’ve actually [talked to] Microsoft about that.”

The Xbox One version is currently due to render at 900p/60fps, with the PS4 version coming in at 1080p/PS4.

But even if things don’t change between now and its release next month, though, the resolution disparity will be the only differences between the two versions, Blizzard’s Matthew Berger assures.

“The difference with Xbox One is the resolution is 900p, but the frame-rate is the same, the textures are the same — everything else is the same,” he says.

Other games are already said to have benefited from Microsoft’s decision to make additional power available to developers, including Sunset Overdrive and Destiny, the latter of which will now hit 1080p on Xbox One.
