Activision has revealed that Destiny 2's as-yet untitled third expansion will bring something fresh to the table when it launches this fall, the publishing giant said during its Q1 earnings call overnight.

Speaking during a Q&A with investors following the call, Activision head honcho Coddy Johnson spoke about how the company aims to keep improving Destiny 2 going forward. One way is obviously the new Warmind expansion, which is due out on May 8. However, he also teased the mysterious third DLC that's coming out later in the year.

Johnson described the new content as 'an incredibly engaging new mode–one that introduces a whole new style of play for first-person shooter gaming generally and certainly for the shared-world shooter space that Destiny created.'

We won't find out anymore details on the new Destiny 2 expansion until E3, although hopefully most people will be too busy with Warmind to care anyway. At least, that's the plan we imagine; Destiny 2 has had a bit of a rough ride since launch, and fresh content is paramount to keeping the fan base occupied after numbers dwindled following its release.

Developer Bungie confirmed that it will release a new raid activity for Destiny 2 players next Friday, and recently hired a YouTuber to help polish the shared-world shooter's core gameplay experience.
