Bungie has confirmed that it's staggering the release of Destiny 2's prestige lairs in order to give Guardians a fair shot at racing through them.

Both Eater of Worlds and Spire of the Stars, which launched with Destiny 2's Curse of Osiris and Warmind expansions, respectively, will be released within one day of each other.

Eater of Worlds is first out the gate on July 17, followed by Spire of Stars on July 18. Typically, they would be released on the same day, though due to player feedback Bungie has decided to change things up this time around.

'Based on player feedback—and to ensure each World’s First race has a clean start—we’re changing the release times of each activity,' commented Joe Blackburn, Destiny 2's senior designer. 'Eater of Worlds will receive a one-hour delay to ensure players have ample time to download and install Destiny 2 Update 1.2.3 once it becomes available. Spire of Stars has been delayed 24 hours to offset the activity releases.'

As you've probably guessed, prestige lairs pack quite a punch in terms of challenge, and tasks Guardians with getting through the map with a specific weapon loadout and modifiers.

So, what can we expect for launch? Blackburn's not saying outright, but he did drop a few clues. For weapons, he offered: 'I've been looking out from my Time-Worn Spire and I feel an Autumn Wind blowing,' apparently referring to two well-known pulse rifles.

As for the modifier, he teased that we'll get something called Arsenal, but didn't elaborate any further.

Destiny 2: Forsaken, the next major expansion for Bungie's loot-based shooter, will roll out for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 4. In case you missed it, the expansion will have you hunting down Cayde-6's killers (*sob*), and will reintroduce Daily Heroic Story missions.
