Bungie recently released update 8.1.5 for Destiny 2. This marked the beginning of Revenant Act II, and there were a lot of details included in the patch notes. In wake of the update’s release, Bungie has provided messages to the community promising fixes for the near-future. These fixes will be delivered next month, meaning Destiny 2 players have a couple of weeks remaining to exploit an OP buff before it gets nerfed.
A lot has stemmed from update 8.1.5. There was a “depressing” nerf that had players convinced someone at Bungie hates the Hunter class, meanwhile, Bungie has recently announced a fix is on the way for unintended benefits from the increase to Super Energy gains. This is for the Celestial Nighthawk Golden Gun variant, and the fix is planned for early-December.
While the above fix will arrive early next month, Bungie has announced another upcoming nerf that will arrive in Destiny 2 shortly after.
Bungie announces upcoming nerf for Destiny 2
In the Destiny 2 update 8.1.5 patch notes, Bungie delivered a buff for the Sentinel Shield. Since the buff’s arrival, players have pointed out how extremely OP it has become.
Players were under the impression that it was a mistake, and Bungie has now confirmed that the full increase in damage wasn’t planned. On the official Destiny2Team account on X, Bungie told fans they are “aware of an issue with Sentinel Shield’s Super melee attack doing more damage than intended”.
While Bungie are planning to nerf the “current, unintended damage,” the good news is that it will remain more powerful “than it was pre-8.1.5”. Further good news is that the fix won’t arrive until “mid-December,” meaning players still have a couple of weeks to exploit the OP buff before it gets reduced.
In responding to the announcement of a fix, one player on Reddit pointed out that all Roaming Supers recently received a “30-35% damage increase” while “For some reason, Sentinel Shield got a 172% increase to damage that also applies to bosses”.
While there are many in the replies on X asking Bungie to keep the Sentinel Shield buff as is, keeping the status quo forever would be impractical and silly. The exploit is good for a short period of time, so make sure to take full advantage while it lasts.
