Destiny 2 Revenant Act 3 is here, and it is the beginning of hopefully a much better year for D2. While the finale adds much-needed content to the game, there is, unfortunately, some controversy amongst the community. Some are disappointed by Slayer’s Fang, and there is even an accusation that Bungie purposefully lied about the new exotic shotgun in the Destiny 2 Revenant Act 3 trailer.

Players can check out the 2025 roadmap to see everything Bungie has officially planned for D2 over the next 12-months. Following the start of Revenant Act 3, next week Bungie is set to deliver several big buffs and nerfs already outlined before the end of 2024. Hopefully these balance changes and the start of Revenant Act 3 will boost the game’s player count as recently it has plummeted to an all-time low with 90% of players abandoning the game.

While Revenant Act 3 is a good way to start the new year with new content, the unfortunate news is that player discontent has carried over from 2024, with some in the Destiny 2 community disappointed by the Slayer’s Fang exotic shotgun.

Bungie accused of lying about Destiny 2 Slayer’s Fang shotgun

Slayer’s Fang is part of Destiny 2 Revenant Act 3. To get the new exotic shotgun, you must simply complete the Kell’s Fall mission. It has 2,010 power along with the following stats:

  • Impact – 75
  • Range – 55
  • Stability – 30
  • Handling – 50
  • Reload Speed – 45
  • Aim Assistance – 70
  • Zoom – 12
  • Airborne Effectiveness – 1

It has a cool design, but the reaction has been mixed. On Reddit, there are calls for Bungie to buff its ammo capacity, but most of the uproar is from the developer appearing to mislead players in the Revenant Act 3 trailer.

As stated by OP TehSavior, in the Revenant Act 3 trailer, Bungie “put the shotgun’s name on the screen, show someone getting kills with the shotgun, and then immediately cut to a rain of void damage after the kill in the same shot”. This has resulted in accusations that Bungie advertised the void rain artifact perk as part of the shotgun, which clearly isn’t the case.

The trailer sequence has some players accusing Bungie of lying about the shotgun with accusations that “they knew what they were doing”. Others believe Bungie has purposefully mislead the community before with one user reminding fans about Forsaken “when Malfeasance was shown seemingly causing a large explosion that was actually caused by a hidden explosive barrel”.

People have stated that it “should’ve been advertised as ‘new artifact perks'” onscreen rather than leading players to “logically assume that the effect was a result of the shotgun”.

Whether the misleading was intentional or not, it has resulted in some more players being disappointed with the shotgun, and it has also just caused more discontent and pessimism towards Bungie. Hopefully 2025 will be a much better year for Destiny, but right now things are not off to a smooth start.
