A lead Delta Force developer has revealed that controller support with be coming to the game on PC in the near future. The tactical shooter, which is currently on PC and exclusively supports keyboard and mouse, will be getting official support as developer Team Jade knows ‘that many players prefer controllers’.
Delta Force controller support on PC
At the time of writing, Delta Force can only be played with a controller via third-party tools. Services like Steam’s controller mapping feature do a fine job, but they’re often worse than official offerings.
Speaking to VideoGamer.com, Ricky Liao, the game’s Design Director, wasn’t able to give a timeframe about when to expect controller support to land, but did say steps have been taken to ensure it feels ‘natural to use’.
“Yes, controller support is on the way for PC,” he told us. “We know that many players prefer controllers,
and we’re committed to delivering a seamless experience no matter what input method you use.
We’re working hard on creating a responsive and intuitive controller layout for PC that will feel
natural to use.”
The fact that Team Jade is working on controller support doesn’t come as a surprise, given the developer’s ambitions to bring the game to other platforms and to ‘keep the momentum going’.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the overwhelming response to the launch. It’s been amazing to
see so many players enjoying the game, and we couldn’t ask for a better community. We’ve got
a lot of exciting content lined up, and our focus is on consistent updates, new features, and
engaging events to keep players excited.
“We’re also working to bring Delta Force to more platforms, including mobile on April 21st, with console versions soon after. We’re committed to keeping the momentum going.”
Liao also didn’t rule out the possibility for ray tracing and features such as Multi-Frame Generation support making their way to the game in the future. “We are working on them but we don’t expect to ship such features in the immediate future,” he said.
With a new Solo Mode in the works for the game’s Black Hawk Down campaign, and hope to create more single-player remakes, Delta Force is going strong.
