As thousands of dedicated Helldivers 2 players battle through some of the most devastating Helldivers 2 Major Orders yet, developer Arrowhead Game Studios is wondering if the game’s biggest players should be rewarded more for their efforts.
At the time of writing, players who aren’t actively participating in Major Orders still get the same rewards upon their completion. While Arrowhead definitely isn’t planning to take this feature away, players who work hard to complete MOs might get more rewards in the future.
Helldivers 2 Major Orders players could get more rewards
In a post on the official Helldivers 2 Discord server, game director Mauricio Redondo, aka Sephez, explained that the team is thinking up new ways of drumming up “better encouragement” for players who are actively fighting the Galactic War.
“We want to be generous with players not actively playing the game or choosing to play their own way,” the game director said. “But I reckon there’s a deeper problem where we need better encouragement for players participating with the MOs.”
However, Redondo explained that having even more encouragement for MOs could also result in its own problems. If every player is working on the Major Order instead of a significant portion doing whatever the hell they want, it could make the Galactic War much easier.
“Having 100% participation means the MOs will always be won though,” the developer explained. “And that introduces other issues!”
Arrowhead is constantly at work on additional ideas to improve Helldivers 2 as the game continues to involve. With the team working on weapon attachment systems and armour skins, as well as brand-new terrifying enemies to fight, there’s a lot of exciting content on the way. As the developers work towards their “Super Epic 5.0” plans years into the future, HD2 is set to evolve massively.
