Within the first two weeks of the game’s launch, Dead Rising has managed to ship more than 500,000 copies across North America. Capcom will also be hoping for similar success in Europe and Japan (wishful thinking) when the game finally hits retail during September.

According to Capcom, Dead Rising has become the fastest selling next-gen title for a Japanese publisher.

Response to Dead Rising from the trade, press and consumers has been tremendous,” said Charles Bellfield, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “The success of the game is a result of Capcom’s recognition of Xbox 360 system’s possibilities and starting development early on in order to deliver such a high-quality game.

Capcom has been a strong early supporter of the Xbox 360. Not only with the release of Dead Rising, but also Street Fighter II’ Hyper Fighting on Xbox Live Arcade and Lost Planet, which is scheduled to arrive in the winter.

Dead Rising will be available across Europe from September 8.
