Koei Tecmo has no plans to release beach volleyball spin-off Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 in Europe or the US, according to official comments made on the game’s Facebook page.

The publisher had previously said that it would consider releasing an “edited” international version in the west “if there is enough interest”, but that no longer appears to be the case.

“We do not bring DOAX3 to the west and won’t have any plan change in the future. Thank you for asking,” said a message posted on the game’s Facebook page.

“Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry?” a second message said. “We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.”

The game is scheduled for release on PS4 and PS Vita in Japan in early 2016.

The decision to avoid a release in the west left some fans disappointed, however, prompting one developer to offer Koei Tecmo $1m to “for the rights to publish DOAX in the US”.

“100% serious,” said developer Hunie Pot. “It’s an extra million they otherwise wouldn’t have. Seems like a no brainer to me. Let them know.”

Koei Tecmo has yet to comment further.
