Deep Silver has opened sign-ups for the closed beta of upcoming MOBA spin-off Dead Island: Epidemic.

The registration form – available over on the game’s official website – asks players for their PC specs, hours of availability and prior MOBA experience, although it isn’t yet known when the beta is due to get underway.

Dead Island: Epidemic was revealed just prior to Gamescom earlier this month. The free-to-play ‘Zombie Online Multiplayer Battle Arena’ title is due to launch early next year, and has been designed to be played differently than popular MOBAs Dota 2 and League of Legends.

“I would never try to develop another Dota or LoL,” creative director Guido Eickmeyer said following the game’s announcement.

“[Dead Island:] Epidemic will be different in many ways, focusing on a crafting system with a lot [sic] of depth and gamers who like to have a hardcore experience that does not require half of your life to master it and some environment that appreciated fun over bullying.”

It isn’t clear how long sign-ups for Epidemic’s beta will remain open.
