Dead by Daylight is reviving the special limited-time 2v8 mode for the seventh time. It will begin at 8AM PST / 11AM EDT / 4PM GMT on February 10 and run until February 25. While previous installments added Wesker and Nemesis from Resident Evil to the roster of Killers, as well as Dracula and Pyramid Head from Konami IPs Castlevania and Silent Hill, this time we are getting Chucky from the Child’s Play films.
Developer Behaviour Interactive first introduced 2v8 mode in July 2024. Rather than the traditional 1v4 format, where a single Killer attempts to hook four Survivors, 2v8 mode features two Killers teaming up to trap Survivors in Cages of Atonement to prevent their escape.
While every Survivor in Dead by Daylight is available to play, only a limited selection of Killers can be used. Despite Behaviour Interactive game director and head of partnerships Mathieu Côté previously citing Chucky as an example for licensed Killers who might never be added to 2v8 mode, The Good Guy is now making his 2v8 debut.
Below are Chucky’s Innate Skills in 2v8 mode, as outlined in the update 9.4.0 public test build (PTB) patch notes:
- Slice & Dice turn speed increased by 10%.
- Increased Hidey-Ho Mode uptime by 15%.
- Performing a Scamper under a pallet breaks it immediately.
- The Good Guy can see Illusionary Footfalls around Survivors.
- Increased Slice & Dice attack duration by 50%.
Chucky joined Dead By Daylight as part of Chapter 30 in November 2023. The Killer is the iconic red-haired doll from the Child’s Play horror films of the 1990s, and you will be able to team him up with other available licensed Killers, such as Nemesis.
While 2v8 mode is scheduled to end on February 25, the next PTB is expected to arrive on February 24. PTBs are exclusive to Steam players and offer an early look at upcoming content and updates before they are officially released. The next PTB is expected to feature the leaked Survivor arriving in March, who is reportedly a cursed samurai and the father of the Killer, The Oni.
Behaviour’s March Survivor marks the final Chapter of Dead by Daylight Year 10. Nothing has leaked for Year 11 so far, but persistent rumors suggest Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th may be coming to the game. There are also ongoing rumors about the Predator, who has allegedly been “lined up” since the release of the Alien Chapter in August 2023.
