Dead By Daylight 2v8 has come back with BeHaviour’s second iteration. The mode is only sticking around until November 26th, but there will be more iterations in the future, and each version will add more content for players to enjoy. Fans would like to see licensed killers added to the LTM, but BeHaviour has previously explained complications that exist, and there are two particularly huge DBD licensed killers that might never join 2v8 mode judging by current restrictions.
As mentioned, the LTM is only sticking around for a couple of weeks, and players can get a total of 500K Bloodpoints from its daily login rewards plus more when combined with the active November 2024 codes. There is a lot to anticipate as part of the November 2024 roadmap, and this includes the launch of Chapter 34 which has been brought forward from its previously scheduled release in December.
While we are looking forward to Chapter 34 and everything else BeHaviour has planned for this month, we will be sad to see 2v8 mode leave in a couple of weeks. Its imminent departure is unfortunate, but it will be back, and hopefully one day there will be the inclusion of Dead By Daylight licensed killers. Sadly, we may never see the addition of rogues from Resident Evil.
Dead By Daylight 2v8 might not get licensed Resident Evil killers
Adding licensed killers to Dead By Daylight 2v8 mode is a complicated challenge for BeHaviour Interactive because of licensing issues.
In October, during an interview with Slasher Radio, Dead By Daylight game director and head of partnerships at BeHaviour Interactive, Mathieu Cote, explained the difficulties with getting licensed killers in 2v8. In the interview Cote said, “You can have the Xenomorph chasing Ash Williams in the house that Michael Myers grew up in… [but] having the Nemesis and Chucky running around in a map together is a bigger step. For us it doesn’t matter having The Spirit right next to The Trapper, but for licensors it’s a conversation that we need to have”.
Cote also acknowledged that each licensor has the right to say “no, that’s too much and I’m not interested in seeing my property that way”. While it’s disappointing some licensors don’t want their killer to interact with other killers, Cote did say that “some are okay with it and even excited to see their characters integrated in something that we believe is one of the biggest things done in Dead By Daylight”.
The good news from the interview is that some licensors are happy for their killer to eventually join 2v8. However, the bad news is that some licensors are not happy with the idea, and thus certain licensed killers may never join 2v8 mode for any iteration.
It’s interesting that Cote specifically namedropped “Nemesis” as it’s possible two licensed killers that may never join 2v8 are from Resident Evil. As highlighted by Dvveet, it is impossible to use the William Birkin skin for The Blight in 2v8 2.0.
Leaks have suggested Legion will be part of the killers joining 2v8 3.0, and Dvveet has said players should expect Hunk for The Legion to be unusable, too. Both William Birkin and the Hunk are licensed skins from the Resident Evil franchise, so their restrictions for 2v8 could possibly mean Nemesis and Wesker might never join 2v8 mode.
We don’t officially know of any licensed killers that will or won’t join 2v8 mode in the future, but it would be a shame for the Nemesis and Wesker to be excluded. They are two massive killers from one of the biggest horror franchises in the world of video games, and they are both fan-favorite icons.
