With the latest trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty being shown off at the recent Xbox Games Showcase players are yearning for any more news about the highly anticipated upcoming expansion. Thankfully, players were able to get a little more information about the upcoming expansion straight from Gabe Amatangelo, Game Director and VP at CD Projekt Red.

In a recent interview with WCCFTech, Amatangelo was able to share some information on Phantom Liberty including more detail on Songbird, “this mysterious New United States of America agent and netrunner and I was hesitating there because I’m trying to not say certain things.” Alongside this, there’s also talk about CD Projekt Red’s decision to approach Idris Elba for the role of Solomon Reed and the return of Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. However, the most interesting part of the interview is in relation to the confirmation of a new ending for the base Cyberpunk 2077 game depending on how you play the Phantom Liberty expansion.

When asked where Phantom Liberty takes place chronologically in the Cyberpunk story Amatangelo said, “This takes place in the midst of it. You get to a certain point in the game and this unlocks, but of course, we let you skip right to it much like it was done in The Witcher 3’s expansions.” Amatangelo continued by saying, “It’s the same thing as it takes place during. Now it has endings, different endings based on how things play out. Then, based on the ending within Phantom Liberty, you can unlock a new ending in the base game.”

When pushed further on whether there would be multiple new endings in the base game depending on how you approach Phantom Liberty Amatangelo noted, “There’s one new ending in the base game because there’s already a bunch in the base game endings. But there’s a new one that has to do with your new relationships and characters and situations here.”
