Cyberpunk 2077, the highly anticipated science-fiction action game from The Witcher 3 developer CD Projeckt RED, is unlikely to feature any form of multiplayer component.

Speaking during a financial conference this week, Adam Kicinski, President and joint-CEO of the Polish studio, spoke of his company’s intention to deliver a ‘huge story-driven role-playing game for a single player as was the case with The Witcher 3.’

He was then quizzed about the possibility of a Battle Royale-style offering for Cyberpunk 2077, to which he reiterated that the goal for the project is ‘to be just the same as The Witcher 3 – namely a single-player game purchased for a one-off fee.’

‘Well actually we’re considering everything and anything but as of today we’re not discussing Cyberpunk yet. The first thing we’re going to discuss is the immense story-driven roleplay for a single-player without any micro-payments whatsoever, without any hidden things whatsoever, just as was the case for The Witcher 3.’

While not outright confirming that there will be no multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077, Kicinski’s comments pretty much rule out any form of online play for the highly anticipated title.

Cyberpunk 2077 has yet to nab a release date although it is expected we’ll hear more on the game at E3 in June.
