If you were hoping for Crysis 3 on the Wii U, prepare to be disappointed. Speaking to Destructoid Rasmus Hoejengaard, creative development director at Crytek, has poured cold water all over the prospect.

According to Hoejengaard there’s “not a fat chance” of a Wii U version appearing. “I don’t think it’s possible. Right now the launch platforms are PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. I don’t think it’s on the cards to do a Wii U version.”

Having said that, Hoejengaard’s comments suggest the lack of Wii U version isn’t down to hardware specs. “I would say that our game is less reliant on technical capabilities this time around because of the setting,” he stated. “You could remove a lot of the fancy render tech and still it’d look great… we want to ensure that the experience of playing the game is not going to differ from platform to platform, only the fidelity of the visuals.”

Crysis 3 is due for release in spring 2013 on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. Find out more in our first preview of Crysis 3.
